Growlers & Squealers
All Sunshine Coast Brewery beers are hand-crafted using fresh ingredients, making them full of flavour, not preservatives. We know there’s nothing better than enjoying craft beer fresh off the tap, which is why we offer a range of draught beer options as well as our bottled beers.
Get your favourite draught beer to go with a 1.89L growler or 1L squealer. Our glass growlers and squealers can be filled with any of our beers on tap and sealed, so you can enjoy fresh draught beer from home.
These great little vessels are 100% reusable, so you can drink sustainably without the need for packaging. Pick up a growler or squealer from the Brewery to get you started or bring in your own (cleaned and sanitised) to get refilled.
Growlers were first used in the late 1800s, when fresh beer was carried home from the local pub in a small galvanised pail. In the 30s, city kids brought covered buckets of draft beer from their local bar or brewery to workers at lunch time or to their parents at dinner time, and then in the 50s, growlers were used to stock up on draught beer over the weekend as it was illegal for pubs to open on Sundays!
The name? Supposedly the sound that the carbon dioxide made when it escaped from the pail lid as the beer sloshed around sounded like a growl. And as for the squealers… nobody seems to know!
